Introducing Scott Machovec: A Pillar of Cedar Grove Parkway since 2000, Dynamic Leader, and Devoted Family Man. With his wife Rachel and their two daughters—one a senior at Georgia Tech, the other at Thompson High School—Scott embodies community spirit and engagement. As of June 17, 2024, Scott has been appointed President of the Sterling Gate Board of Directors, bringing his innovative vision and engineering expertise to lead the community towards a future of greater sustainability and prosperity. Since joining the board in 2021, Scott has served in crucial capacities, including Vice-President and Member-At-Large, where his leadership skills have been prominently displayed. His professional background as a Project Engineer at Southern Company is highlighted by his dedication to leading-edge power generation projects, focusing on innovation and environmental sustainability. Scott's vast knowledge in engineering and construction has been key in guiding the Board through significant initiatives in subdivision expansion, capital projects, and maintenance, greatly enhancing the community's infrastructure and aesthetic appeal. As Scott steps into his new role, the Board is poised to amplify its commitment to meeting the homeowners' needs while upholding fiscal responsibility.
Meet Ben Noe, newly appointed as Vice President for the Sterling Gate Board of Directors, after serving as Member at Large. With over 12 years of experience in automotive management and administration, Ben's managerial expertise significantly bolsters the board's mission to enhance and uphold the community's well-being. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ben is an avid recreational pilot, exploring the skies of central Alabama, a passionate Formula One enthusiast, and enjoys participating in boating activities. At 34, his commitment to family shines through, celebrating nearly 11 years of marriage with his best friend and parenting two wonderful children, ages 8 and 5, placing family values at the heart of his life.
Meet Steven Lund, a resident of the Sterling Gate community since 2005 and Treasurer of the Sterling Gate Board of Directors since 2020. Steven lives with his wife of 26 years and their three daughters (23, 18, 15), sharing a life that's as enriching personally as it is professionally. Their eldest daughter has earned a Master's in Public Health from UAB, their middle daughter graduated from HS in May and works at a Health/Wellness Spa, and their youngest daughter is a sophomore and dances for the Thompson Warriorettes. Steven earned an undergraduate degree in Finance from UAB in 2000 and a Master's with an emphasis in Accounting in 2009. Steven has been able to utilize his financial and accounting background to serve as Treasurer for the past 4 years. Professionally, Steven had a 19-year tenure at BellSouth/ATT, where he worked in many organizations and ended his career as a Financial Analyst. In 2017, he expanded his career by becoming a partner at Small Business Accounting Services. Beyond his corporate roles, Steven has dedicated 12 years to public accounting, offering his skills to a variety of small business clients. Additionally, he shares his knowledge and passion for finance by teaching accounting and finance classes at online colleges. This blend of corporate experience, entrepreneurial spirit, and educational involvement highlights Steven's multifaceted career and his dedication to his profession.In his spare time, he enjoys hunting, boating and traveling with his family. Steven’s life is a testament to the seamless integration of personal passions with professional achievements. His unwavering commitment to his family, his career, and his community is clear in everything he does. He is thankful to be part of the Sterling Gate community and honored to serve on the HOA Board.
Howard Jones is a dedicate father and grandfather whose family resides in Georgia.  He has served as a valued member of the Sterling Gate Board of Directors since 2021, following his retirement from a distinguished 35-year career as an award-winning science educator.  During his professional tenure, he also held leadership positions in several educational and professional organizations.
As the board's sole retiree, Mr. Jones has contributed significantly through his leadership, serving two years as president and one year as secretary.  He currently continues his service in another term as secretary.  Mr. Jones deeply values the opportunity to collaborate with the board's talented and committed members, united by their shared vision of fostering a stronger, more vibrant community.
